Ceiling Fans are a convenient & an effective way of keeping the room cool compared to a fully ACs room or one with Coolers. In hot or humid cities in Asia, you need both – meaning intermittent AC rooms. Use 1 hour of AC and 2-3 hours of the Fan to circulate air, evenly across the room till you feel comfortable. This way you can achieve 2 things – reduce your electricity bill and keep the room cool optimally. A lot of people do not know this, so we at Luxaire Luxury Fans try to educate our clients well, so there is no mismatch of expectations.
Flickering light with under light Fans
This is a common problem of the Fan’s light flickering. One should check if the bulb is fused and needs replacement if its an incandescent, halogen or LED bulb inside. This is easy & doesn’t require an electrician. However at times, your ceiling fan may have a loose connection at the starting point of the bulb or fixture. In remote parts of India especially during summers, they could voltage fluctuation. This burns the bulb faster for eg. Sometimes the LED strip may burn out, even though it has a life of 40,000 hrs. Some appliances pull a lot more power than others. So, if your ceiling fan light flickers each time, you turn on the mixer or grinder, that’s a sure sign of voltage fluctuation. For the 2nd or 3rd issues, call your electrician to fix the problem.
Ceiling fan wobble
They may look as if they may fall down from your ceiling anytime. But wobbling is a common ceiling fan issue, and there are 3 reasons for it
Wrong installation – Always use a qualified electrician or company technician.
Bad quality blades – Poor materials like plastic or Mdf can bend over time and affect the working.
Loose parts – When maids clean they sometimes loosen certain parts like the drop rod or metal caps to do a clean job. All wooden fans must be gently cleaned with soft cloth – not Chemicals, as wood can contract & expand easily and this affects the polish & color later. See pt #8 of our FAQs
Noise from High speed Fans
Mass produced fans are meant to work at really high RPMs so they are going to be noisy. A whisper quiet fan, generally available in all of Luxaire Fans is simply fans between 20-50dB of sound.
20dB is the noise of leaves rustling and 50dB is of two people talking. A vacuum cleaner is 80 Db which is what older fans may seem like.
A Silent Fan ensures that you have an effective conversation or a good nights’ sleep without any air cutting sound. If you have bought a Luxury fan, then a loud fan is a sign of again some loose connection in the fixture, ball bearings or the motor so give it to the company for a check up/repair.
Fan is Stuck on 1 speed or becomes slow suddenly
If you are using a wall control & this happens: a common reason based on wear and tear, is that your motor has overheated or it’s a failing capacitor, both of which can cause your fan to operate on one speed only. You can easily buy a local capacitor to solve this.
If you are using automation or remote – check it with an automation professional or get the remote checked for battery & loose connections. Remember that using multiple modes of Fan controls can damage the motor.
Ceiling fan doesn’t turn on
In new home interiors the Fans are fixed without electricity so this is most likely the case – you need to first check with your engineer, if you are receiving any electricity first.
Check your electric panel if the circuit breaker has tripped?
If you are renovating an old house, then check all loose connections and overheated motor due to voltage problems.

How much variation is there in the maintenance of s normal fan and s luxury fan?

The commercial Fans use cheaper raw materials due to which it may need more support over a period of time. However, Luxaire Fans are built to Last with minimum maintenance requirements.
