The city of Agra was discovered in 1504, when Sultan Sikander Lodi started his rule, on the banks of the river, Yamuna. Later, during the Battle of Panipat, in 1526, the Mughal ruler, Babur assumed control and governed his realm from here. During his rule, Agra saw brilliant years of art & culture, imaginative architecture and gardens, which soon became the benchmarks for Indian craftsmanship over the years. His first undertaking was an open garden on the banks of Yamuna – Aram Bagh. The famous moments today are the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri. One cannot leave the city without sampling its Mughlai food or the Agra ka Petha!

When we talk about the Mughals, another city which strikes a chord is Lucknow – otherwise called the City of Nawabs. Verifiably, Lucknow the capital of the Awadh locale, was constrained by the Delhi Sultanate and later the Mughal Empire, and then moved to the Nawabs of Awadh. The city’s contemporary culture is the consequence of the amalgamation of Hindu and Muslim rulers who controlled the city at the same time.
